CEMEX UAE Celebrates CEMEX 110 Years Anniversary

Proudly donning their CEMEX 110 Years T-shirts, CEMEX UAE employees trooped to the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort to celebrate CEMEX’s 110 Years Anniversary on the 9th of December 2016!

"We are 110 years now because we have always conducted our business according to our Code of Ethics. They define who we are and we continue to be guided by them", said CEMEX UAE Country Director Piotr Rusecki as he welcomed everyone to the event. He reiterated the values and urged everyone to live them. Additionally, he reminded the more than 500 employees present that the occasion is also a celebration of the 10 Years of CEMEX in the United Arab Emirates and he talked about some of the operations achievements.

Mr. Rusecki very aptly took the celebration as a moment to “Renew Commitment to the Code of Ethics”. He signed the Letter of Commitment with all employees witnessing it and later enjoined everyone to stamp their signature as a sign of their commitment to the Code.

The event was also an occasion to recognize service and achievements! Employees with 10, 15 and 20 years of service were awarded by the Management Team with Certificates and Gold as token of appreciation for their loyalty.

Heavy Vehicle Drivers who have shown improvements on driving behaviors, driving within speed limit, in particular, were also recognized with some cash awards. This is in line with the recent implementation of Fleet Management, a system that monitors speeding, harsh breaking and harsh acceleration.

Testimonials of the long service years with CEMEX were shared by Ready Mix Plant Maintenance Manager, Abid Ali Shabudeen Tole, Abu Dhabi RM Quality Control Manager Muhammad Fiaz Malik, and Cement & Ready Mix Operations Director, Alfredo Nicdao. They talked about their respective career in the company and the importance of living the values of the organization. “I can describe my more than 30 years in CEMEX in Four “C’s”, i.e., Changes, Challenges, Competitiveness and Continuous Learning,” said Mr. Nicdao citing examples of how each of the C continues to make his life in CEMEX very meaningful.

Following the formal part of the event was a showcase of CEMEX UAE’s multicultural employee population. There were cultural dances presented by Punjabis, Pakistanis, Filipinos, Indians and Egyptian was such a big hit. They all proudly came in their respective national costume and danced their hearts out!

All employees totally enjoyed the celebration and are looking forward to the next event. There is no doubt that the event has met its objectives of ENGAGING everyone to CEMEX not only on its 110th year but certainly in the more years to come!
