Crack Prevention and Shrinkage Reduction

Shrinkage reducing admixtures minimize drying or plastic shrinkage cracking, and/or internal stresses that cause cracking, improving surface quality, aesthetics, or long-term durability. Cemex's wide range of water reducers help reduce the water content in concrete preventing drying shrinkage and cracking.

Extended Delivery and Placement

Retarding and hydration control admixtures extend setting times, making them ideal for large pours and hot weather conditions. Our slump extender maintains workability (slump life) over long hauls and extended placement times  without signficantly delaying the setting time.

Corrosion Protection

Corrosion-inhibiting admixtures protect reinforcing steel from chloride-induced corrosion. To further enhance durability, shrinkage-reducing admixtures help minimize cracks that allow moisture ingress. Our wide range of water reducers help decrease permeabilty in concrete by lowering the water content in the mixture. This reduction in permeability slows chloride ions, preventing them from reaching the steel reinforcement.

Strength and Longevity

Water-reducing admixtures enhance compressive strength and durability by lowering the water-cement ratio, making them ideal for challenging exposure conditions including external sources of chlorides, sulfates, salts, and other damaging chemicals. They also  help mitigate damage from freezing and thawing, as well as alkali- silica reaction (ASR). Shrinkage-reducing admixtures minimize stress-related cracks, while corrosion inhibitors protect reinforcement, ensuring long-term structural integrity.
