Cemex helps shape the skyline of Dubai

Cemex UAE is helping shape Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach (JBR) evolving skyline by supplying Vertua® concrete for the construction of SENSORIA at FIVE LUXE Resort. The 43-story architectural building, situated in Jumeirah Beach Residence, is set to redefine luxury living in the emirate. 

Cemex delivered 19,000 cubic meters of Vertua® lower-carbon concrete for this project until 28 May 2025, pushing the boundaries of sustainable construction by reducing environmental impact while maintaining high material quality and enhancing durability.

SENSORIA is located in the JBR district, granting residents exclusive access to a 125-meter private beach. The tower offers panoramic views of  Ain Dubai  and Palm Jumeirah, enhancing its status as a premier beachfront residence. The development features a selection of furnished and unfurnished two, three, four and five-bedroom apartments; each equipped with a private plunge pool on an expansive terrace, providing comfort and privacy.

Cemex supplies concrete for one of the largest power plants in Dubai

Cemex supplied 100,000 cubic meters of concrete for constructing the Hassyan Power Plant, one of the largest in the GCC, nestled in Dubai, UAE. This plant is designed to be best in class for efficiency. It minimizes fuel consumption and emissions, meets stringent environmental standards, and generates 2,400 MW net of electricity, 25% of Dubai’s demand. It features four ultra-supercritical boilers, steam turbines, and generators located near the iconic World Expo 2020 venue in vibrant Dubai.

Dubai aims to produce 25% solar, 7% nuclear, 7% clean coal, and 61% gas energy by 2030.

Cemex unveiled the first fully electric ready-mix truck in the Middle East during COP28 in Dubai

During COP28 in Dubai, Cemex unveiled the first fully electric, zero-emissions ready-mix truck in the Middle East.

The truck is fully operational and has the capacity to transport a full load of concrete. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art 350kWh battery which allows it to complete an average full workday with a single recharge.

Cemex is actively collaborating with partners and manufactures to discover, pilot, learn, and scale the long-term solutions needed for hybrid and zero-emission vehicles to be available at scale.

At the same time, Cemex is adding trucks powered by renewable diesel and natural gas which have a carbon footprint that is 70% and 25% lower than regular diesel, respectively. These critical transitional technologies will enable a reduction in carbon emissions in the short term as heavy-duty electric vehicles become viable at scale.

Cemex UAE and Star Cement Co L.L.C. Dubai partner to boost circular economy in the Building Materials Industry

Cemex UAE, has announced signing a cooperation agreement with Star Cement Co LLC , a wholly owned subsidiary of UltraTech Cement Limited, India, an Aditya Birla Group Company. The partnership aims to recycle concrete waste in the construction industry as well as reduce carbon emissions and improve the overall environmental impact of construction projects.

Through the partnership, the companies will deploy new solutions to manage and reuse concrete waste by utilizing advanced and environmentally safe practices. Furthermore, Cemex will provide low carbon byproducts to Star Cement, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment.

Cemex UAE and Thrifty partner to promote green economy through electric vehicles

Cemex UAE announced partnering with Thrifty Car Rental to change 13 of its vehicles to Polestar electric vehicles (EVs). This partnership aligns with Cemex global climate action program, "Future in Action," aimed at reducing the company's carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices within the company’s operations.

The decision to shift to electric vehicles as part of Cemex UAE's daily operations is a strategic move that reflects the company's commitment to its environmental goals and its steady steps towards actively seeking innovative solutions to combat climate change.

Cemex UAE Supplies Vertua for the Iconic Cavalli Tower

Cemex UAE announced that it has signed a contract with China State Construction Engineering Corporation to supply DAMAC Properties, a leading luxury real estate developer in the UAE, with around 105 Km3 of Vertua concrete for the construction of the iconic Cavalli Tower in Dubai Marina.

The Tower is a 70-storey ultra-luxurious residential building in collaboration with world famous luxury fashion designer Roberto Cavalli and is set to become a landmark in Dubai Marina. Cemex UAE is supplying Vertua concrete to the project to meet the high sustainability requirements and reduce around 36% CO2 through Vertua.

Speaking about the project, Rafael Villalona, Cemex UAE Country Director, said, "We are proud to be contributing to the construction of the Cavalli Tower. Our Vertua products are more sustainable by design and reduce the carbon footprint of the construction process while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance. The use of Vertua concrete in the construction of the Cavalli Tower aligns with our commitment to sustainability and innovation according to our climate action program, Future in Action."
