Regenera
We integrate and scale up circular economy principles in the cement supply chain through our Regenera business to drive circularity in the building materials industry.
Circularity solutions
Regenera, launched in 2023, fosters circular economy by reducing the use of virgin materials and extending product life. By collaborating with other industries, Regenera integrates alternative raw materials into production processes. Thus, we leverage our expertise to facilitate the transition to circularity, offering services for waste reception, recovery, and recycling.
Circular economy
The reduce, recycle, and reuse approach of a circular economy help preserve natural resources and lower carbon emissions. Through efficient design, it fosters a sustainable world.

Biodiversity conservation
Reduces the extraction of natural resources.

Lower emissions
Reuse of materials reduce carbon emissions.

Nature regeneration
Avoids waste to landfills, enables natural habitats.

Economic growth
Fostering sustainable economic development.

Reduce resource extraction
Reducing reliance on virgin raw materials in a circular economy benefits the planet by conserving resources and minimizing environmental impact. By using recycled inputs, we reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and preserve natural ecosystems. This shift supports global sustainability and promotes a healthier environment for future generations.
Fostering a circular economy
We are at the heart of the circular economy, with the capability to recycle materials from a variety of waste streams and generate renewable energy from organic materials.
28M tons
materials repurposed by Regenera in 2023. Equivalent to 1 year of collected waste in England.
18M tons
repurposed materials by Regenera in 2023 replaced finite resources. 10M tons were used for land restoration projects.
Commited to circularity
Through Regenera, we apply our expertise in waste management and infrastructure to use waste and industrial byproducts as sustainable substitutes for fossil fuels and raw materials.
Infinite recyclability
The construction industry plays a vital role in the circular economy. Regenera recycles rubble and debris, transforming them into aggregates for new concrete or raw materials for lower-carbon cement, thereby reducing reliance on virgin materials. By circulating products and materials, we conserve resources, cut emissions, and minimize the environmental impact of construction.

Industrial byproducts
We identify industrial and waste byproducts and use them as alternative raw materials. This helps our partners avoid landfilling while we preserve natural resources and lower carbon emissions. In the cement production process, we can replace part of the clinker with byproducts, including fly ash and slag.

Waste to energy
Through Regenera, we recover and send recyclable materials to other industries for reuse, while using non-recyclables as fuel at Cemex’s cement kilns, reducing landfill waste and fossil fuel use. This conserves resources, lowers emissions, and supports the circular economy's goal of minimizing waste and promoting sustainability.

Regenera around the world
Our circularity solutions focus on diverse initatives like zero waste, recycling, and environmental restoration, improving resources efficiency, and creating new businesses opportunities.

Gennevilliers circularity platform
Located in Paris, the facility manages and transforms +2M tons of Construction, Demolition and Excavation materials (CDEM) every year.

Tunjuelo Circularity Center
Located in Colombia, the Center receives excavation materials and demolition waste for land restoration and recycling in aggregate production.

Fishing out waste from the Nile River
We're partnering with VeryNile to clean inorganic waste from the Nile, a vital water source for 11 African countries. Recovered plastics are upcycled, and non-recyclables fuel our Assiut cement plant.

Zero waste to landfill in Queretaro
We have partnered with the city of Querétaro, Mexico, to manage municipal waste, supporting their goal to become the first zero-waste city in the country.
Future in Action
Regenera is part of Future in Action, Cemex's program to achieve sustainable excellence through climate action, circularity, and natural resource management with the primary objective of becoming a net-zero CO2 company by 2050.
