CEMEX UAE Participates in a Tree Planting Campaign

CEMEX planted a tree under its name in Umm Al-Quwain (UAQ), in light of its participation to the 7th annual “For Our Emirates We Plant” campaign organized by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).

At CEMEX, our vision fosters SUSTAINABILITY and in line with this, we collaborate with local communities to help them in their development. We aim to be the best neighbor and private sector contributor to the community development. With our continuous efforts, CEMEX UAE was given an honor to participate in the EEG’s "For Our Emirates We Plant" campaign last 15th of December 2016. The annual program acts as a platform for the local community to collect and donate their recyclable wastes and those who were able to meet the targets will be given indigenous trees to plant under the entity’s name.   

EEG is an organization based in the UAE dedicated in conserving the environment through creating awareness, establishing environmental solutions and launching action programs in the entire region.

CEMEX was given a chance to plant a tree on account of its cooperation to the Mobile Phone Donation Campaign last October 2016, giving almost 100 pieces of unused and recyclable phone devices. The organization also participated in the Paper Collection Campaign in Abu Dhabi last November 2016 contributing a sum of 700kg of waste papers.

The event was headed by Habiba Al Marashi, the Chairperson of EEG and participated by eco-friendly residents from all sectors of the society, public and private institutions, academic institutions and families including our very own company, represented by Shajudeen Sulaiman, General Services and Employee Relations Manager and Juanita Ege, Human Resources Manager. The participants came together and planted over 230 indigenous trees across two locations in UAQ. These trees on maturity will help mitigate 1.36 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions. Since the inception of this campaign, EEG has managed to plant over 2,094,458 indigenous trees across the different Emirates.
