CEMEX Participates in Emirates Environmental Group Recycling Campaign

At CEMEX, our commitment to social responsibility has been deeply rooted for 110 years of company’s history and this is the reason why it’s important for us to contribute to the local community. In this effort, CEMEX UAE is participating with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) on their old or non-working mobile phones Donation Recycle Campaign, which is under the initiative umbrella of “One Root One Communi-Tree 2016”.

CEMEX advocates the reduction of the impact of Carbon Footprints in the UAE and make continues efforts to help save the local environment by being a leader on introducing Eco-Friendly concrete products and other initiatives.

The EEG’s initiative aims to highlight the advantage of recycling by encouraging the participants to collect and deposit variety of waste such as papers, plastics, mobile phones, toner cartridges and aluminum cans. At the end of the campaign, a representative from the organization will collect the recyclables and will grant a certificate to participants that reached their target quota, making them eligible to plant a tree under their name in one of the public areas of UAE.

There are 12,415 participants from the local community; public and private organizations, educational institutions and individual families. Since the inception of this initiative, it has successfully reduced CO2 emissions by 685 MT of GHG’s saving 3,509 trees from being felled and freeing 1,047 cubic meters of landfill space.
