CEMEX promotes health and safety for Hauler contractors

CEMEX UAE held a workshop for its contractors, attended by 17 haulers. The workshop aims to highlight the importance of practicing health & safety in their workplace & while working with CEMEX, hazards and risks involved in their work and the benefits of GPS technology.

Driving is the activity that leads to the majority of fatalities in our industry and highest percentage of it are related to contractor activities. That is why we are constantly working to identify and mitigate risks involved in driving and contractor activities. In this regard, we have organized the 2nd Health & Safety workshop for our Hauler contractors, held at our office in CEMEX Falcon Jebel Ali, Dubai last 31st of October 2016.

This initiative was led by our Logistics and Health & Safety department and aims to bring awareness among our valuable hauler contractors about the importance of adopting the health and safety practices within their organization. Moreover, to communicate with them about the minimum requirements standards set by CEMEX for hauler contractors and the benefits of using GPS systems. “The contractors had a very positive feedback and they appreciated the efforts CEMEX is taking to guide them with following the company’s safety guidelines and to help on their continuous improvement of their safety processes,” said by Juan Carlos, Procurement & Logistic Director.

Health & Safety Manager, Fayaz Shah, was pleased that the workshop was successful and is looking forward for the next one. “If we are to achieve our goals, then the partnership we have with our contractors is the key and these workshops are a real leap forward on our journey towards zero injuries,” he said.
